“All men’s miseries derive from not
being able to sit quiet in a room alone.”
I wonder, how many of us could sit in a quiet room alone? Think about it, a quiet room with nothing to distract us but our own thoughts and perhaps our shallow and anxious breathing. Would you walk from room corner to room corner, or would you walk in circles?
For me it would be an opportunity to absorb the quiet, at least for a while. Maybe I too would walk in circles while I grabbed furtive glances as I passed a window. Or maybe I’d find a center within and sit in a state mimicking the rooms atmosphere, quiet.
